Who we are
A child who falls behind in reading rarely catches up alone. A parent who can't afford a day off may ignore an illness until it becomes an emergency. These challenges are connected — and they are where we want to help.
Quabit is at the very beginning of its journey. We are bringing together volunteers, educators and health professionals to plan practical, local support in education and healthcare. We will be open about what we are doing, what it costs and what difference it makes — and equally open about what we haven't done yet.
Mission, vision & values
To improve access to quality education and basic healthcare for underserved families in Kolkata, through practical, community-led support delivered with dignity.
A Kolkata where every child can learn with confidence and every family can get the care they need — whatever their income.
We treat every person as a partner, not a project. No one is photographed or written about without informed consent.
We report what is true and verifiable — and say clearly when information is not yet available.
We listen to families, teachers and health workers, and design our work around what communities tell us they need.
Children and vulnerable adults come first. Our safeguarding rules apply to everyone who works with us.
We plan to publish reports on what we do and how every rupee is used once we begin operating.
We work with patience and kindness, recognising that small, consistent help often matters most.
Our causes
Education and healthcare are at the heart of our work, with a small number of closely related areas that support them.
Core focus
Helping children build strong foundations in reading, writing and numeracy through after-school learning support, learning materials and patient mentoring.

Connecting families with basic health check-ups, guidance from qualified professionals and referrals, so that illness doesn't stand in the way of school or work.
Keeping children safe, healthy and in school — with a safeguarding-first approach in every activity we run.

Each initiative is labelled with its real status. We will only describe a project as active when it is actually running.
